Scam emails shipping computer virus this holiday season

Reports across the country are highlighting malware scams targeting holiday shoppers that are shipping presents. In Texas, TV station KXII said that a user receives an email that appears to be from UPS or FedEx stating that a package sent can't be delivered. The message prompts the user to click on an attachment to print out an invoice. Those who do click on the attachment will be opening their PC to a virus. While not a new concept – there have been reports of this type of attack dating back to 2008 – WJLA in Washington DC, said the computer virus is wreaking havoc causing millions of dollars of damage to computers across the country. “If you get an email saying there's been any kind of a problem, there will be a link to click to – never click any kind of attachment,” UPS Store owner Mariana Huberman told WJLA. “If you see an attachment...call the store you have shipped out from, they can help you track it.” Computer users nationwide are being warned about the virus and experts said this is another reminder to never open any attachments sent via email unless you know the sender and consider the sender's emails safe.
