After changing plans earlier this month Mozilla recently released a beefed-up Firefox 3.6, the latest update to its popular web browser, according to the company. Of all the new end-user features in Firefox 3.6 it could be the speed boost that will be most appreciated by the millions of users of the open-source web browser. With what it said was improved stability and speed of the program with better JavaScript performance, faster startup times, and quicker overall responsiveness Mozilla claimed that Firefox 3.6 is more than 20 percent faster than Firefox 3.5. In addition to the speed and stability improvements, some of the other features that the company's blog put on its “cool features” list include the ability to personalize the look of Firefox by selecting new themes called Personas in a single click and without a restart, a form complete feature, and increased security in the form of a plugin updater. According to an article in MacWorld, Firefox 3.6 was originally scheduled to be a minor update last November, but changed its development schedule earlier this month taking Firefox 3.7 off and adding to 3.6. The next major update is now expected late this year or in 2011.
